Information is not knowledge, and the goal is not to gather data but to practice what we want to learn.

The thing with spirituality is that it includes facing us, our real selves and our story. It involves being authentic and letting people see us.
In a world that cultivates fitting in and people-pleasing, opening ourselves is an act of courage and bravery.
We live in an era with more access to information, books, TED Talks, science, etc. than any other generation, yet we still struggle like never before.
A simple Google search will list an immense number of links talking about personal evolution. We could quickly sign up for every single free webinar, master class, and ebook we can find that could help us fill the need for feeling better.
We have the data and are obsessed with how-to, but hassling seems to be a prerequisite. If we know the path and how to make good choices, why do we struggle?
Because we don’t talk about the things that get in the way.
We read about the power of meditation, learn that joy is the purpose of all and we can enjoy life right now. We say yes! to all of that, but what gets in the way of us actually doing it? We jump with excitement and decide to get into a higher vibration and manifest a better human experience, but what gets in the way, and keeps us spiralling?
Doubt, shame, fear, self-worth, self-love, acceptance, energy, disconnection, denial, guilt… The presence or absence of any of these and more is what makes spirituality a bold and complex project that doesn’t impact only our emotions and spiritual journey; it affects our everyday lives and how we embrace our jobs, parenting, relationships, the way we develop our own companies, our bodies, E V E R Y T H I N G!
In my case, shame.
Presenting myself as a marketing professional with a thriving media industry career fits in, and people accept it. There’s no hustle there.
Spirit communicator? Not that much. Calling myself a spiritual teacher? Oww! I would prefer not to go that way, but it means staying in a comfort zone that has exhausted me, so here I am.
For many, spiritual awakening comes with a breakdown. However, I have learned that breaking ourselves is good because it’s through the cracks that our light can shine.
So many things get in the way of our growth, both breaking us and providing us with the opportunity to grow. However, information is not knowledge, and our goal is not to gather data but to practice what we want to learn.
Writing about the fear of not being good enough made this article happen. We have to talk about what gets in the way of our evolution.
