What it’s your body trying to tell you?

Have you noticed that some people hardly get sick? Do you remember that time when everyone got ill, but you didn’t get that bug? Are you aware of that arbitrary pain that comes and goes? Have you ever booked an appointment with your doctor and ended up arriving on the date feeling okay?

If not all, at least one of these has already happened to you. It might have seemed random or perhaps interesting. However, the richness of information behind every time our body is not at its 100%, it’s beyond valuable.

We blame the weather, our partners, a sudden move or even that crowded visit when complaints of discomfort arise, and without giving it a second thought, we put ourselves on medication, natural or chemical. We go deep into the cabinet trying to get “back to us”, not considering that that is exactly what our body is trying to tell us, and our response by masking the pain is a rude, shut up!

You don’t have to be an expert to try to understand what your body is arduously looking to convey. It is usually very straightforward.

What is your body asking for? Where is the headache located? Which part of your body is refusing to work?

By reading the signals, you can see that your body is probably giving you a messy week with a cold to force you to slow down. It might be bringing up a throat infection to remind you to speak up or to force you to express all the things that make you feel sick. That weird knee pain when going upstairs, perhaps, is trying to make you recognize something that is holding you back from reaching higher destinations.

Our body is remarkable and wise. It’s our avenue to living the human experience and the container of a triad that allows us to be, literally, alive. This sacred and whole piece talks to us on a regular basis, even when we are healthy.

You see, when everything is working out, we tend to forget to dive into enjoyment. We get comfortable, and soon, that ease becomes stagnancy. Therefore, our human experience vehicle has to use some other avenues to remind us to keep moving forward, to carry on and to continue perfecting ourselves.

One of its goals is to help us never forget that we are on a path to a better us. So, give yourself a minute to think about why you are feeling this pain. The answer is always inside you. With intention and attention, a reason or a connection with something occurring in your life will pop up in your mind.

Please know that this reflection will never replace a visit to a health professional. Despite our bodies’ efforts to help us live better lives and guide us to a better version of ourselves, the human body is a complex system, and we humans are quite elaborate.

I share this to help you kickstart a conversation with yourself and ignite a desire to connect with your body; these chats can go deep and wide. So, feel free to look for holistic professionals and guides who can connect the mundane with the sacred.

PS: Allow me to share with you that I started this article with a cold feeling in my body. Now, I understand it was a sensation reminding me that I needed to warm up my soul, and that is exactly what I do when I write and share my learning with you. Thank you!
